23 hours behind bars

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Sometime ago I heard from an inmate who said he spent 23 hours a day in a cell and had only the “wrong things” to read.

He begged us to send him Today’s Pentecostal Evangel to encourage him in his faith and to help him fill his days with the Word of God.

Cults and false religions, he said, flood the prison with literature contrary to the Bible. He wanted to receive the magazine because he knew it would keep him going until he is released.

Last year about 1,200 inmates wrote to us indicating a decision to follow Jesus Christ through reading Today’s Pentecostal Evangel. With your help we can reach even more in 2008. We can expand our distribution to an additional 50,000 inmates each week with the financial support of readers like you.

Chaplains are urgently requesting copies of Today’s Pentecostal Evangel. Unfortunately, they are being placed on a waiting list until funds are available.

For $1 a week, you can assist our chaplains and penetrate jail cells with the gospel of Jesus Christ. For only $1 a week, you can send an Evangel to four prisoners. That is a small price to pay for the lives that will be changed.

Please know your financial gift may hold the key to an inmate’s spiritual freedom. Together, let’s put the salvation message into the hands of men and women who need to know Jesus loves them and is ready to forgive them.
