Women for ‘change’
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — As we approach the November
presidential election, every candidate wants to be coronated the “agent of
change.” Their stump speeches and television ads are riddled with the phrases
“together let’s change America” and “your vote will change the direction of our
nation.”
Over the last year, I’ve observed a trend that has the
potential to bring real change to the spiritual climate of our nation. It can
best be described as a growing women’s prayer movement that isn’t tied to large
conferences, Christian celebrities or national organizations. This is a
grassroots effort.
Women in local churches and in neighborhoods are being
compelled by the Holy Spirit to come together each week to join their hearts
and voices in prayer. They are waging battle for their children, congregations,
communities, country and more.
A group of women, for example, who attend Bethany Assembly
of God in Adrian, Mich., (pastored by Richard Clay), have prayed together five
days a week for 12 years.
These women are agents of change.
Across the nation, many of these prayer and Bible study
groups are comprised of women from different church backgrounds.
They haven’t gathered to tout one church over another. They’ve been brought
together by a common desire to see God move in their lives, communities and
families.
Do you long to see God bring about changes in your life and
in your nation? Then perhaps you should consider joining a weekly prayer group
and being part of a growing movement of women who are putting more trust in the
One who resides in heaven than the one who sits in the Oval Office.
