God is pro-life
I was driving home from a trip recently when my vision
suddenly blurred.
The next morning I underwent laser surgery for a torn
retina. It is a small and somewhat common problem that can become a huge
problem if not treated quickly. It caused me to reflect on the complex wonders
of the human body, and on Psalm 139:
“You formed me in my mother’s womb. … Body and soul, I am
marvelously made … what a creation! … You know every bone in my body; you know
exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into
something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth”
(The Message).
The eye is just one part of the miracle of human life.
Science tells us that the eyes begin to form, along with ears and respiratory
system, 28 days after conception. At eight weeks all body systems are present.
At 18 weeks the tiny life has working vocal cords and can cry.
It is incomprehensible to think of God, who has
precision-formed these small bodies, in any way justifying abortion.
Abortion is not a political issue; it is a moral and
spiritual issue. Only spiritual blindness can account for the so-called pro-choice,
pro-abortion position held by otherwise rational people.
All Christians should stand against the incredible evil of
abortion on demand. The Freedom of Choice Act would greatly escalate the
violence against unborn children. Abortion needs to end, not escalate, as this
act would cause.
The Word of God tells us to pray for our nation’s leaders (1
Timothy 2:1,2). I encourage you to pray for our new president and our other
leaders. As you do, pray that God will turn their hearts to value the lives of these
tiny masterpieces of God — unborn children.
