Resolution 4 – Compositon of General Presbytery

WHEREAS, The 2005 General Presbytery in session referred to the Executive Presbytery the defining of the Board of Administration, the Executive Presbytery, and the General Presbytery; and

WHEREAS, The composition of the General Presbytery was a point of conversation in each of the Young Pastors Listening Forums; and

WHEREAS, The Assemblies of God has over 6,000 female credential holders; and

WHEREAS, It is believed that the Assemblies of God would be well-served to expand the General Presbytery to reflect our constituency and increase the representation of pastors under 40 years of age and female credential holders who are ordained; and

WHEREAS, The leadership team of the national office, per The General Council of the Assemblies of God Organizational Manual approved by the 2005 General Council, identifies a leadership team made up of 6 elected officers and 4 appointed positions; and

WHEREAS, Those appointed positions give strategic direction under the supervision of the general superintendent; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That General Council Constitution, Article IX. OFFICERS AND PRESBYTERIES OF THE GENERAL COUNCIL, Section 3. General Presbytery, page 87 and page 88, be amended by the addition of two new paragraphs to be known as g. Tier I Leadership and h. Additional Representation, which shall read:

g. Tier I Leadership. The Tier I Leadership of the national office shall be ex officio members of the General Presbytery.

h. Additional Representation. The Executive Presbytery shall select 30 members to serve a 2-year term based on ratios of approximately 25 percent ordained females and 75 percent ordained males under the age of 40. And be it further

RESOLVED, That present paragraphs g and h be relettered as i and j.
