Resolution 13 – Honarary General Presbyter—D. Wendel Cover
WHEREAS, D. Wendel Cover has faithfully served the Assemblies of God with distinction for 49 years as an evangelist, pastor, district, and national leader; and
WHEREAS, He has served for nearly 30 years as pastor of Word of Life Assembly of God, Springfield, Virginia, leading the church to rank as the third largest contributor to World Missions among U.S. Assemblies of God churches (2005); and
WHEREAS, He has served the Potomac District Council for 14 years as Youth director leading the district to rank third in the nation in Speed the Light giving (1977), 13 years as the World Missions director leading the district to rank seventh in the nation in World Missions giving (2005), 5 years as an executive presbyter, and 22 years as assistant district superintendent; and
WHEREAS, He has served on the Board of Trustees for Valley Forge Christian College for 22 years; and
WHEREAS, He has served the General Council as a member of the Assemblies of God World Missions Board for 3 years, as a general presbyter for 22 years, and on many other boards and committees; and
WHEREAS, Article IX, Section 3, paragraph h, page 88, of the General Council Constitution makes provision for persons with such distinctive history to be named an honorary general presbyter of The General Council of the Assemblies of God; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That D. Wendel Cover be elected by this General Council to the position of honorary general presbyter of The General Council of the Assemblies of God.
