State of Discipleship Report

The State of Discipleship Report (PDF) was prepared for presentation at the 52nd General Council and describes the current state of discipleship in the Assemblies of God.

Elections

  • General Superintendent — George O. Wood elected.
  • Assistant General Superintendent — L. Alton Garrison elected.
  • General Secretary — John Palmer elected.
  • AG World Missions Director —L. John Bueno reelected.
  • AG US Missions Director — Zollie L. Smith Jr. elected.

Delegates will vote on various positions including general superintendent, assistant general superintendent, general secretary, AG World Missions executive director and the Executive Presbytery. The electronic voting system will be used for all elections and for secret ballots at the discretion of the chair.

Electronic Voting

  • Voting constituency is comprised of ordained and licensed ministers and one delegate from each GC church. See "Participation" below.
  • Voting will be conducted electronically.
  • Voting will require: registration, Voter ID Badge, Voter Guidebook
  • Voting on officers will begin Thursday afternoon (August 9).
  • Confidentiality is assured through the system. Voting delegates will receive a voting number on the back of their registration cards, which will give them access to the voting machine. A simple tutorial will be shown onsite to assist in using the equipment.

Participation

  1. MEMBERS - "The membership of The General Council of the Assemblies of God shall consist of all ordained and licensed ministers holding a current fellowship certificate and churches holding a Certificate of Affiliation issued by The General Council of the Assemblies of God" (Constitution, Article VII. Membership, Sec. 1).
  2. VOTERS - "The voting constituency at a General Council shall be composed of all accredited members of The General Council of the Assemblies of God who are present and registered and of such representatives, present and registered, as may be chosen by the churches affiliated with The General Council of the Assemblies of God, each church being entitled to one delegate" (Constitution, Article VII. Membership, Sec. 3).
  3. BUSINESS - All business sessions of the 52nd General Council will be conducted from the designated voting sections in the Indianapolis Indiana Convention Center, which will be reserved during business sessions for the voting constituency as described above. To vote or participate in these sessions, ministers and delegates must wear their badges and sit in the reserved sections.
  4. ALL GENERAL COUNCIL PARTICIPANTS - All participants are asked to register and wear their badges for all sessions and services. They are encouraged to attend the business sessions as observers.
