BGMC launches new Web site for kids

By Marshall Bruner
After hundreds of hours of design, field study and development, the national BGMC office has launched a new kids’ Web site packed with fun, intrigue and resources that challenge kids to reach their world (where they live) and the world for Jesus.
David Boyd, BGMC national director, says BGMCKids is a powerful teaching tool that can be used at home and in churches with Internet access. It’s colorful. It’s full of graphics. It offers online and downloadable games. It has information and stories from kids and missionaries around the world. And it’s full of resources that challenge kids to grow spiritually and to get more involved in missions.
BGMCKids enables kids to do virtual “world travels” by discovering videos, photos, maps, flags, stats, stories and reports about other nations and world ministries via the Internet. Also, the Web site enables kids to share with other kids what they are doing for BGMC and missions.
“The national BGMCKids Web site was designed to give kids a safe place to play online,” says Boyd, “and give them the opportunity to grow their faith through hearing true and powerful stories from our missionaries, as well as testimonies and missions facts.”
The theme running throughout BGMCKids is “Pray, Give, Go!” The home page has five top navigational buttons that lead kids to resources about “What is BGMC,” “Just Pray It” (how to pray), “Just Fill It” (how to give), “Just Share It” (how to go and be involved in the Great Commission) and “Just See It” (videos and audio stories).
Other resources the Web site offers are:
- Wacky Games” — online digital games for early elementary and upper elementary kids
- Fun Stuff” — humor and downloadable games
- Kid Power” — enables kids to share what they are personally doing for missions, and features letters from missionary kids worldwide
- True Missions Stories” — missionary stories and a featured audio True Missions Story
- Buddy Around the World” — global reports and thank you letters from missionaries
- Passport” — enables kids to do virtual “world travel” and to learn about other countries and missions works
- Where BGMC Goes” — shows current ways BGMC funds are being used and features countries and our missionary works by region
- Have Faith” — devotionals for kids and articles of how kids are practicing their faith through BGMC
