Worldwide impact — millions reached

Through the Book of Hope, God’s word transformed
Eduardo’s life. He has since led his entire family to Christ.

By Nicole Johansson

Half a billion children and youth all over the world have already been touched by the power of God’s Word through OneHope.

With the vision of “God’s Word. Every Child,” OneHope uses creative tools such as the Book of Hope and The GodMan film to engage the next generation with the scriptures.

Last year, 10-year-old James Alexander Loaiza Avenidano, became the 500 millionth child to receive the printed Book of Hope!

James received his Book of Hope on June 12, 2008, at his school in Colombia ... since then more than 76 million more children have been reached.

The scope is global. The impact is phenomenal. Consider just three of the many millions of lives transformed.

Eduardo in Brazil was already heavily into drug abuse by age 13.

He was growing up in a neighborhood traditionally known for prostitution. Most of the families there somehow made a living from the sex trade.

But when Eduardo received the Book of Hope, things began to change for him. Today, two years later, this young man has been completely set free from drugs. He began preaching to his family, and now he and his entire family are following Christ as their Savior.

Another transformation: 15-year-old Wosagala from Uganda.

For Wosagala, every night was “fight night.” He settled disputes with his fists, and even if there weren’t any disputes to be settled, he would still use his fists. He picked on his peers and fought with his parents.

Only The GodMan film got past his defenses.

“I saw that what Jesus was doing in the film was good,” Wosagala says. “It made me see that I need to follow Jesus.”

He decided to accept Christ as his Savior, and since that time, there have been big changes in his life!

Now Wosagala is a faithful churchgoer, honors his parents and is learning how to get along with people in a more Christ-like way.

God’s Word has the power to change young lives forever. It certainly changed Edilberto, a 13-year-old boy growing up in Colombia, once considered one of the most violent and lawless nations of the world.

“I received the Book of Hope because a friend gave it to me,” he says. “I received Jesus as my personal Savior, and now I feel so happy!”

Edilberto immediately started sharing his faith, and has already brought one friend to new life in Christ. He says that he reads the Book of Hope to his younger cousin every night, too.

Worldwide impact is growing, and the power of God’s Word is making a tremendous difference in the lives of children and their families.
