Women in Ministry share Courageous Call

By Stephanie Nance

This week women ministers will gather at the Network for Women in Ministry exhibit not only to engage with other ministers but to get a copy of A Courageous Call, a new publication the Network is releasing at General Council.

A Courageous Call is a resource that will bring together the legacy of women in the Assemblies of God, inspiring articles, information about how to become credentialed and the most highly recommended resources.

“We want young women in the Assemblies of God to know the call and courage of our predecessors in ministry and to have access to the information they need to pursue God’s call for their lives,” states Dr. Beth Grant, chairperson for the Network steering committee.

The first 100 visitors to the Network’s exhibit each day of General Council will receive a free copy of A Courageous Call. District officials will also have the opportunity to order copies to distribute to women in their districts who are interested in pursuing credentials.

The Network serves women ministers like Crystal Martin who are in various ministries across the nation and the world. Martin and her husband Scott serve as national Chi Alpha staff and have planted a Chi Alpha ministry in Central Eurasia. They are also the visionaries of The World Missions Summit, which has brought together thousands of students and missionaries to be challenged and mobilized to carry the gospel to the far corners of the earth.

Martin’s faithfulness to complete the vision God placed on her heart recently inspired and encouraged another woman in ministry who sent Martin a message of appreciation for being an example. Martin says, “It shows how when we as women step into something new, the Lord can use us as models to inspire others to believe God in their own lives.”

Martin will be a featured plenary speaker at Conversations ’10, the Network’s upcoming national conference for women in ministry to be held in Dallas, Texas, September 29, 30 and October 1, 2010. Additional details about Conversations ’10 are available at the Network’s exhibit booth.

The Network for Women in Ministry exists for developing, mentoring and resourcing vocational women ministers and women preparing for ministry. Additional information, videos, articles, interviews and other useful resources are available at www.womeninministry.ag.org.
