WCO Seminars growing

By Royal Rangers staff
The 2009 attendance of the World Class Outpost (WCO) seminars have already exceeded previous records. The national Royal Rangers Ministries introduced this unique seminar in 2006 to focus on bringing together the leadership teams of the local Royal Ranger outposts to discover how to grow into a world-class outpost.
National Director Doug Marsh states, “Church leadership is recognizing the importance of bringing together their local leadership team to learn how to work together and develop a set of practices, methods and strategies that will enable them to develop into a world-class ministry.”
The purpose of the World Class Outpost seminar is to provide the instruction and tools necessary in an interactive environment that will enable local leadership to reach the highest level of excellence by constant evaluation and improvement. Being a world-class outpost is not simply being the best outpost in town or in the city. A world-class outpost measures itself against a high standard of effectiveness.
Participating in a motivational gifts questionnaire and a personality survey reveals attendees’ strengths and weaknesses, as well as where they best fit into a leadership team. Spending time evaluating themselves and their outpost is only the first step. WCO also intentionally incorporates opportunities for leadership teams to discuss current issues and develop plans to address them.
Some have attended previous WCO seminars on an individual basis and are now returning with their Royal Rangers leadership teams and members of their pastoral staffs. Listen to some of the comments from recent WCO attendees.
• “I want to take my current involvement to the next level and be a more effective leader.”
• “I want to bring a world-class attitude to our outpost.”
• “I attended a previous WCO but have returned with our complete leadership team — we all really need this.”
• “I have learned to be more proactive instead of reactive.”
“If we [are to] grow our ministries so that we can influence more boys and young men than ever, more effectively than ever, we must be in a continual question, learn and change posture. In order to remain relevant to our society and meet the needs of our local community, our methods may change but not our mission” says national Training Coordinator Steve Schultz. “The WCO will make your outpost more missional — to evangelize, equip and empower the next generation of Christlike men and lifelong servant leaders.”
