Through video, thousands more can experience GC09

Approximately 29,000 Assemblies of God pastors and constituents attended the 53rd General Council in Orlando, Florida, August 3-7, 2009.
Thanks to AGTV, the Assemblies of God video-on-demand Web site, those who were unable to make the trip to Florida can still experience General Council from the comfort of their own homes. All of the business sessions, evening services and special AGTV news spotlights are now available on the AGTV Web site (agtv.ag.org).
“The 2009 General Council has been an inspiring, challenging and spiritually enriching event,” says Juleen Turnage, director of Communications for the Assemblies of God. “Through AGTV, we hope many more of our AG family can share in this experience.”
Among the General Council videos available on AGTV is a message from newly re-elected General Superintendent George O. Wood, who spoke at the Tuesday evening service. According to many General Council attendees, Wood’s call to leave a legacy was one of the most inspiring and powerful messages they had ever heard. In addition to those in attendance in Orlando, a total of 3,344 people viewed the live stream broadcast of Tuesday night’s service on the General Council Web site.
By making these videos available online, Tim Laffoon, the AG Digital Communications coordinator, aims to provide an easily accessible way for individuals to connect with the Assemblies of God as a whole.
“The number of live streams that we have had during this week shows the growing need and desire for delivery of Web video within our Fellowship,” Laffoon says. “The goal for our video elements this week was to allow those who were not able to be in Orlando to still feel a part of what was going on.”
Using the AGTV share tool, the videos can also be embedded on other sites.
