Trinity to celebrate 60th anniversary October 1-5

by Jennifer Courtney

Trinity Bible College, Ellendale, North Dakota, opened its doors in October 1948 with a vision of training young men and women for the work of ministry, and this fall the college will celebrate 60 years of carrying out that vision.

The 60th anniversary celebration will take place October 1-5, 2009, on Trinity’s campus in Ellendale, North Dakota. Everyone who attended the college at one time or another is invited to come.

“We are expecting record numbers to come home for this great event,” says Dan Courtney, director of College Relations at Trinity. “Modern technology has really helped us connect with alumni, through tools like Facebook, and the response to our 60-year celebration has been very positive.”

Specific activities for those who attended from 1979-2009 will take place during the first half of the celebration, Thursday, October 1-Saturday, October 3. Alumni who attended from 1948-1978 will have specific activities Saturday, October 3 through Monday, October 5. Saturday will be a chance for all Trinity alumni to rub shoulders and enjoy spending time with every generation of the Trinity family. Saturday’s activities include a golf tournament, a tailgate party, a homecoming football game against Minot State University – Bottineau and a celebration banquet.

While in Ellendale, visitors will get to see Trinity as it is today, including new improvements to the facilities, and meet the new president and administration.

The most recent addition to campus is the Lowell Lundstrom Heartland Student Life Center. The building joins the chapel to the cafeteria and houses a beautiful commons area, coffee shop, post office, computer center, administrative offices, media center, game mezzanine, conference room and six new classrooms. A covered entrance has given Trinity a “front door,” and the parking lot has been paved.

Trinity’s new administration includes President Jack Strom, Executive Vice Presidents Sam Johnson and Sam Farina, and Dean of Students Keith Elder.
