Resolution #9 — Committee On Finance
WHEREAS, The General Council Bylaws provide for a Committee on Finance; and
WHEREAS, The bylaws give instructions for the organization and governance of this important committee; and
WHEREAS, The work and responsibilities of this committee have changed over the years of its existence; and
WHEREAS, The current language in the bylaws is out of date and should be brought into conformity with the present work and responsibility of this committee; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That General Council Bylaw, Article XIII. Division of the Treasury, Section 1. Finance Department, paragraph b, subparagraph (3). Committee on Finance, pages 145 and 146,which presently reads:
(3) Committee on Finance. There shall be a Committee on Finance, consisting of seven persons from the constituency on the field, elected by the Executive Presbytery subject to the ratification of the General Presbytery. This committee shall be charged with the responsibility of studying the budget with the Executive Presbytery and shall serve in an advisory capacity in matters of general finance. They shall give preliminary survey and advice concerning any major project on the denominational or departmental level involving the expenditure of funds. Any project to be submitted for consideration by the General Council which involves the expenditure of funds shall first be submitted to this committee for review and advice.
Be amended by the deletion of the last two sentences so the new paragraph will read as follows:
(3) Committee on Finance.
