Apostolic Ministry and the U.S. Assemblies of God — Operational Definition

Endorsed by the General Presbytery, AUGUST 2003

The Executive Presbytery adopted the following as an operational definition in regard to Apostolic Ministry and the U.S. Assemblies of God.

Biblical apostolic ministry is marked by God-sent, church-recognized leaders whose ministry, through the anointed proclamation of the Gospel, with accompanying signs and wonders, results in the expansion of the Kingdom of God.

Biblical Apostolic leadership as demonstrated by the early church…

  • Depends totally on the enduement of the Holy Spirit’s power for the release of His supernatural gifts.
  • Extends the borders of the Kingdom of God through penetrating and impacting unevangelized and unreached people groups with the Gospel.
  • Develops enduring relationships through mentoring.
  • Enlists, equips, empowers, and releases new generations of leaders.
  • Plants and develops healthy local self-supporting and reproducing New Testament congregations.
  • Produces lasting fruitfulness through the continuous multiplication of New Testament congregations.
  • Models spiritual responsibility, accountability and humility, aspiring to neither title nor office.
