Judy Malana
U.S. Navy Chaplain
Lieutenant Commander Judy Malana is a part of the chaplain corps of the United States Navy. As a Navy chaplain, she provides religious ministry to those of her own faith tradition and to facilitate the free exercise for all religions.
Chaplain Malana provides spiritual care for the men, women, and their families in the Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard. She provides advice commands on issues relating to religion, morale, morals, and ethical situations.
Chaplain Malana's current assignment is to the Naval Chaplains School where she instructs newly commissioned chaplains and also those who are senior in rank. She manages the Naval Chaplains School Professional Development Department which is responsible for providing ongoing training to over a thousand chaplains and their assistants. Judy also loves being a wife and is a proud mother of three boys.
To other women in ministry, Chaplain Malana says, "If God has called you to a particular ministry, dive into it head first! If you are blazing new trails, expect controversy. People may misunderstand, criticize, underestimate, or even sabotage you, but know that ‘it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.'"
